The reported budget for “Ramayana” has become a topic of confusion and debate. Initial news pegged the franchise at ₹1,600 crore, with ₹900 crore for the first part and ₹700 crore for the second.

Yet, more recent statements from producer Namit Malhotra have pushed the figure as high as ₹4,000 crore (about $500 million)—a number that rivals or even surpasses the budgets of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.

Such dramatic fluctuations make it difficult to separate fact from marketing hype, and leave many wondering about the real cost and the reasoning behind these announcements.
