Ramayana Poster Sparks Online Criticism
With around a month left for Ramayana, the makers have started promoting the film. They have recently released a poster of Arun Govil, who plays Dashrath in the upcoming magnum opus.
While the poster was supposed to create some buzz for the film, it has instead attracted criticism of the makers. The reason is the marketing strategy used by them, and a majority have pointed out that this is not the right way to promote a film made on a budget of Rs. 4,000 crores.
Reacting to the poster, people said that they were not up to the mark. A lot of them even alleged that they looked more like advertisements for jewellery and other products instead of presenting someone from the Ramayana.
Netizens said that the makers are possibly not aware of how other producers promote their films, and considering that they are reportedly aiming to compete with Hollywood, they are not checking the fact that Hollywood is far ahead of the Hindi film industry when it comes to promoting big projects.
A lot of people stated that the makers could have used AI to create a poster, which would not have been a big issue since they have already used it throughout the entire movie. They criticized the fact that the producers opted to make something on their own without the use of technology, which is now expected to have a negative impact on the film and its collections.
Trade experts pointed out that with little time left for release, the makers should focus on aggressive promotions. Fans of Ranbir Kapoor and other stars also expressed their frustration, addressing the fact that with a month left for the film to arrive in theatres, the entire team is not organizing any tours or releasing new trailers or posters.
A majority also accused Namit Malhotra of clearly aiming to sell the movie to the audience without any effort to attract them through the best assets. A few others stated that in case the film does not work, the hard work of so many people is going to get wasted, but the blame is undoubtedly going to fall on Namit in that case.
As of now, critics have stated that a lot of things are going wrong in terms of the film’s promotions. With a lot at stake, including a big budget and the claims made by the makers, only time will tell if the strategy of the producers will cost them in any manner when the movie is released.
