After his well-received film Dhaakad 2, Siddhant Chaturvedi now enters the historical drama space with a biographical film on V. Shantaram. The project is officially confirmed, and Siddhant plays the celebrated filmmaker.
The makers released the first poster of V Shantaram: The Rebel of Indian Cinema today. The first look of Siddhant as V. Shantaram appeared online with the caption, The Rebel Who Redefined Indian Cinema Is Back Where He Belongs — On the Big Screen.
The film is presented by Rajkamal Entertainment, Camera Take Films and Roaring Rivers Productions. Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhas Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde are producing it. Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, known for his work in Marathi and Hindi cinema, is writing and directing it.
Siddhant said playing V. Shantaram is one of the biggest honours of his career. He shared that the more he studied Shantaram’s life, the more grounded he felt. He described the role as transformative and deeply educational.
Rumours suggest Tamannaah Bhatia also joins the cast in a key real-life role. V. Shantaram ruled Indian cinema across decades, pushing boundaries through silent films, talkies and colour. The film aims to trace his journey through these eras.
Fans believe the biography will help younger audiences understand Shantaram’s impact on Indian cinema. With such a towering figure on screen, Siddhant now carries the responsibility of delivering a performance worthy of the legend.
