Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2 released recently, sparking strong conversations about caste and social inequality. The film received positive reviews, with many praising Siddhant for his intense and fearless performance. But now, a viral video has placed him at the centre of controversy.
A few days ago, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marked its 100th anniversary. To celebrate, several celebrities — including Sanjay Dutt, Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Manisha Koirala, Arjun Rampal, and Siddhant Chaturvedi — shared messages of support and congratulations online.
Siddhant’s video, in particular, drew sharp reactions. Fans pointed out the irony of an actor who starred in Dhadak 2 — a film exposing caste violence and discrimination — choosing to praise an organisation widely criticised for its caste and ideological stance.
Many social media users claimed this was a strategic PR move by the RSS to improve its public image. They alleged Siddhant’s video looked scripted and suggested that the actor may have been paid to participate.
Fans felt disappointed that Siddhant’s actions contradicted the core message of Dhadak 2. They said it made his stand as an artist appear hollow and opportunistic, especially when the film positioned him as a voice against inequality.
What angered people most was how someone associated with a socially aware film could openly align with a group known for ideas that clash with the message of the movie. For many, this blurred the line between conviction and convenience.
While actors have the right to express political opinions, fans believe authenticity matters. When such statements appear driven by money or influence, they risk damaging an artist’s credibility and the integrity of their work.
