Don 3 has been a film that created headlines for its casting, with fans expressing disappointment over Ranveer Singh taking the lead role instead of Shah Rukh Khan. While the film was supposed to go on floors this year, a new update is out now.
According to Rahul Raut, the filming of Don 3 has now been delayed to January 2026, as Ranveer wants to wait until the release of his upcoming action-thriller, Dhurandhar. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is releasing on December 5, 2025.
Notably, Dhurandhar is also not ready yet and only 10-15 days of shooting are left for now, which will be completed by August or September this year. Moreover, Aditya is planning for an additional shoot, which might happen for a month after the first edit.
Although it is a good sign that Ranveer will move to another film after completing one, the decision has also postponed a few more of his upcoming films.
This includes an untitled zombie action-thriller, which would be helmed by Jai Mehta. Filming for this particular project will now start in the middle of 2026. Moreover, it also involves a lot of VFX work, which is expected to take some months for completion.
The ongoing situation might take a different turn since Farhan Akhtar and Kriti Sanon are supposed to participate in the promotional campaigns for their upcoming releases, 120 Bahadur and Tere Ishk Mein.
Despite being criticized for different reasons, Don 3 remains one of the most highly anticipated films. There is a section of the audience expecting that Farhan Akhtar will work hard to deliver a film that will turn out to be better than the previous two films, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
But the delays are also raising questions, with some asking if Ranveer or Farhan are not so confident about the film, and so they want to start it late. For now, nothing much can be said about a release date since Don is a franchise that will need time to create some amazing action sequences for the big screen.
Let’s wait for the posters, trailers, and other promotional material to have a better idea of the film’s potential at the box office.
