Taapsee Pannu marked the 11th anniversary of Neeraj Pandey’s spy thriller Baby with a social media post. Her message celebrated the film’s legacy. It also triggered an unexpected debate online among fans.
While sharing a T Series video from Baby Taapsee wrote that the film was made when spy movies were not a Friday trend. She also said it had aged like a fine wine. Many users read more into that line.
Some people linked her words to the buzz around Dhurandhar and the wider YRF spy universe. They felt she was taking a dig at newer franchises. A few called the comment unnecessary or dismissive.
Others believed the remark was aimed at Dhurandhar in particular. Some felt it was just a broad observation on how spy films now dominate the market. The reactions showed how sensitive the genre has become.
Many users also came out in Taapsee’s support. They said her post was only about Baby and its time. They felt it was not targeted at any actor or film.
Released in 2015 Baby starred Akshay Kumar Anupam Kher Rana Daggubati Danny Denzongpa Kay Kay Menon and Taapsee Pannu. The film later led to the spin off Naam Shabana. That project focused on Taapsee’s character.
Taapsee was last seen in Khel Khel Mein in 2024. She has Assi Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan? and Gandhari lined up. Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled for a March release.
