Thama Teaser Backlash: Maddock Accused of Copying

Thama teaser controversy backlash

Maddock’s upcoming film Thama has landed in controversy soon after its teaser release. Some fans accused the makers of copying elements from Maa and Chhori. Still, excitement around the project is running high.

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, Thama is a romantic horror-comedy. The film also features Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in key roles, making the cast a major highlight.

The teaser, released yesterday, marks Maddock’s first love story within its popular horror universe. Rashmika Mandanna debuts in this genre with a bold avatar as Tadaka-Roshni ki ek hi pehli kiran.

Ayushmann Khurrana appears as Alok-Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed. Nawazuddin Siddiqui left fans impressed with his fierce look as Yakshasan-Andhere ka badshah. His intense role is already generating strong buzz online.

However, viewers noticed similarities between Thama and films like Maa and Chhori. Certain teaser shots featuring masked deities appeared too familiar, sparking a debate about originality.

Fans worry this isn’t just a copy-paste attempt but hope the masks play an important role in the story. They expect Maddock Films to deliver something fresh and unique, rather than repeating familiar tropes.

Directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar, Thama is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. The script is penned by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara. The film is set for a grand Diwali 2025 release.

With the success of Stree 2 and Chhaava, expectations are sky-high. Fans now wait to see if Thama can blend romance, horror, and comedy into something truly memorable.
