Maddock Films has taken a confidence hit after Thamma failed to meet expectations. The studio’s successful horror comedy universe faced a setback, and attention has now shifted to its next release Shakti Shalini, which features Aneet Padda in the lead role.
As per recent reports, Vishal Jethwa has been roped in as the male lead opposite Aneet Padda. The casting has drawn attention as the film is expected to play a key role in reviving interest in Maddock Films’ horror comedy lineup.
Vishal Jethwa recently earned acclaim for Homebound, India’s official Oscar entry this year. In Shakti Shalini, he is set to play the female lead’s love interest, with filming scheduled to begin in March.
This will not be the first time Vishal and Aneet share screen space. Aneet Padda earlier appeared in a minor role in Vishal Jethwa’s 2022 film Salaam Venky, where she portrayed his friend.
Reports suggest Vishal’s character will carry strong emotional weight in the story. He is expected to act as both a catalyst and a contrast to the protagonist’s journey, adding depth to the film’s narrative.
Expectations were very high for Thamma, especially with Rashmika Mandanna, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the cast. Many fans hoped the film would stand out, but it ended up disappointing a large section of the audience.
After the strong response to Saiyaara, Aneet Padda’s casting in Shakti Shalini created major buzz. Following Homebound, interest has only grown further with Vishal Jethwa joining the Maddock Films universe in a pivotal role.
While the film features young and relatively fresh faces, fans are now questioning whether Shakti Shalini can help Maddock Films regain lost trust. The pairing has sparked curiosity across social media.
With Vishal Jethwa onboard, many are eager to see if he delivers another standout performance or if Aneet Padda emerges as the bigger highlight. Either way, expectations remain high for their on screen chemistry.
For now, fans are waiting for an official announcement from the makers of the MHCU. Shakti Shalini is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.
