Is Thama Doomed by War 2’s Box Office Curse?

War 2, touted as one of the biggest releases of 2025, was expected to dominate the box office. However, the high-budget project failed to meet expectations and left audiences disappointed.

Despite a massive budget of ₹400 crores, the film collected only ₹204.25 crores in its first week. Many fans believe this setback has hurt the Spyverse franchise and its long-built hype.

Industry watchers suggest the downfall was predictable. With the underwhelming performance of Tiger 3 and the flop of Fighter, signs of audience fatigue in the spy and war genre had already appeared.

Now, attention has shifted to the horror and horror-comedy space. After the success of Stree 2, the genre has seen a surge in interest. However, fans fear it could face the same fate as War 2 due to oversaturation.

The teaser of Thama has generated excitement, but some believe the concept may feel repetitive. Recent films like Shaitan, Maa, Chhorii and Khauf, along with Maddock Films’ Munjya and Stree 2, have already crowded the market.

Will Thama stand out or fall victim to genre fatigue? Fans are divided, and the film’s release will determine whether the trend continues or breaks.
