Yash Raj Films (YRF), one of Bollywood’s leading production houses, has been steadily building an ambitious Spy Universe over the past decade.
It all began in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan. The film’s success laid the foundation for a connected series of high-octane spy thrillers.

This was followed by Tiger Zinda Hai and War, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Both films were major box office hits and helped solidify the Spy Universe’s appeal among action film lovers.
In 2023, the franchise took a significant leap with Pathaan, which marked Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film shattered box office records — even surpassing Baahubali’s long-standing benchmarks — and reignited excitement for the Spy Universe.
Following that, Tiger 3 was released with Salman Khan reprising his role. However, the film flopped and is often seen as a weaker entry in the otherwise successful franchise.

Now, all eyes are on War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. The film is in its final stages and is scheduled for a massive release on August 14. As anticipation builds, there are strong rumors of surprise cameos in the movie.
Speculation suggests that Anil Kapoor and Alia Bhatt might be introduced toward the end of War 2 as a prelude to the next Spy Universe film Alpha.
Mid- and post-credit scenes may also tease future additions to the Spy Universe, laying the groundwork for upcoming films.
Adding to the excitement, YRF is reportedly working on its biggest project yet: Pathaan vs Tiger. The film is expected to bring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan together in lead roles. Siddharth Anand, the director behind War and Pathaan, is rumored to helm the project.
The buzz doesn’t end there. Big names like Hrithik Roshan, NTR, John Abraham, and Alia Bhatt are also expected to make cameo appearances, making Pathaan vs Tiger one of the most anticipated multi-starrer action thrillers in Indian cinema.
Although there were earlier doubts about whether the project would happen, national media sources have now confirmed that Pathaan vs Tiger is very much in development.
