Dogs To Be Paid Alimony; Mumbai Court Orders

Dogs Paid AlimonyIn a recent news case from Mumbai, a 55-year-old woman filed for divorce in Bandra High Court, citing domestic violence as the reason. Following a few disagreements, in 2021 her husband sent her to Mumbai with a promise of providing maintenance and other necessities. However, these obligations were never fulfilled.

Therefore, she approached the Bombay High Court, seeking monthly alimony due to her lack of income and her husband’s status as a businessman in Bangalore. Additionally, she emphasized that she owned three Rottweiler dogs that also required care.

Although, the husband’s denied the allegations of violence and claimed of running a company in losses, the court dismissed his arguments.

They ordered him to pay a monthly sum of Rs. 50,000 to his wife, as well as provide for the well-being of her three pets. Furthermore, the high court asserted that pets are essential for a healthy life, as they can help compensate for emotional and psychological losses experienced by an individual.
