With just one week left for the release of the movie Jawan, the filmmakers are leaving no stones unturned when it comes to promoting the film. Nayanthara, the Tamil superstar and the lead actress in the movie made her debut on Instagram on Thursday to promote the film. This is a very interesting move because superstars from South don’t usually rely on social media for film promotions.
Nayanthara posted the trailer of Jawan as her first post on the account. Jawan is expected to be a global hit and the movie is targeting audiences from both North and South India. Therefore the actors and promoters are trying to merge promotional strategies of Bollywood along with that of the southern film industry.
The southern style of film promotion is usually grand and unique. Hosting huge pre launch parties and speeches are common features as we saw before the launch of Rajnikanth’s Jailer. This style of promotion is usually not seen in Bollywood but in the case of Jawan, the producers are ready to bend all rules. It was recently observed that Shah Rukh Khan held a Jawan pre-release event in Chennai, highlighting the significance of the film for its southern audience.
Nayanthara has a huge fandom in South India and there’s no need to describe that of Shah Rukh Khan. Filmmakers are trying to capitalize on this collective fandom to produce a mega blockbuster.The movie will be released globally on the 7th of September in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
