Gen Z’s Hottest Star: “Don’t Cut My Nude Scenes!”

Sydney Sweeney is once again making headlines as new details about the third season of Euphoria have surfaced.

According to series creator Sam Levinson, the actress actually pushed back against efforts to reduce nudity in the new season. Levinson revealed that while writing the scripts, he initially considered shooting certain scenes in a way that would avoid nudity altogether. However, Sweeney reportedly felt that approach would not make sense for her character.

Recalling their conversation, Levinson said, “When I first wrote it, I was like, ‘Maybe we shoot all of this and we don’t have any nudity. Maybe there are ways to shoot around certain things?’ And Sydney looked at me and she was like, ‘Are you kidding? I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to skirt around it?'”

Levinson admitted that Sweeney’s response made him reconsider the decision, adding, “Yeah, OK, that’s a fair point.”

The comments have reignited discussions surrounding Euphoria, a show that has often faced criticism for its explicit content. Addressing complaints about nudity in the first two seasons, Levinson defended the creative process and emphasized that actors are fully informed about the requirements of a role before accepting it.

“From the script, you get a sense of what the role requires,” Levinson explained. He added that actors are specifically asked whether they are comfortable with such scenes during the audition and casting process.

At the same time, he stressed that performers always have the right to change their minds. Referring to industry guidelines, Levinson noted that actors cannot be forced to perform nude scenes after being cast if they later become uncomfortable. Intimacy coordinators are also involved throughout the process to ensure consent and safety on set.
