2024 has wrapped up, and Tollywood is missing movies from two promising actors this year. Poor planning seems to have played a big role in this situation.
The first is Adivi Sesh, known for his selective films and mastery of a specific genre. He has built a strong brand around this, yet he did not have a single release in 2024. Shockingly, he didn’t release any films in 2023 either. His last theatrical release was Hit 2, which was a decent success, but since then, he has been absent from the big screen.
The second actor is Naveen Polishetty, a talented entertainer who also fell victim to poor planning. He had no releases in 2024. His last film, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, was successful last year, but he has been completely missing from the entertainment space this year.
Adivi Sesh reportedly has two films (G2 -Goodachari, Dacoit: A Love Story) in the pipeline, and Naveen Polishetty has one (Anaganaga Oka Raju). However, given the fierce competition in the industry and how overcrowded the entertainment space is, disappearing for an entire year can be a very risky move.
In a place where success is rare, being overly selective might not always be the best strategy. There’s no guarantee that a long gap will lead to a successful comeback. Staying in the public eye and audience memory is critical. The entertainment space is crowded, and if actors fail to stay visible, they risk being forgotten.
Audiences won’t chase actors like Sesh or Naveen for films from them. It’s up to them to consistently stay in the spotlight and remain relevant with frequent releases.
