24 Years for Rajini’s Title Card

Since 24 years, Rajinikanth’s fans can’t get enough of the title ‘Superstar Rajni’. The title card started 24 years ago for Rajinikanth’s super hit film ‘Annamalai’ later remade in Telugu as ‘Kondapalliraj’ with Venkatesh as the lead.

Even today, we find fans whistling on the appearance of blue dots converging into ‘Superstar’ and then ‘Rajni’ appearing on screen. The idea was first started by film maker Suresh Krishna and is continuing till today. Since then, there is one and only superstar in the country.

24-year old Rajinikanth’s ‘Annamalai’ also celebrates the victory of good over evil and the rise of a common man from rags to riches. These kind of motifs are never going to die down whether it is a regional film or a Bollywood film. One of the biggest grosser of his times, ‘Annamalai’ remains one of the career changing films in Rajni’s career.
