Distributor – Producer Abhishek Nama is in a tussle with another producer Anil Sunkara and that too over the pending dues of their 2018 film, Goodachari. Abhishek Nama, Abhishek Aggarwal, Anil Sunkara, and People Media Factory are the partners in that film. Anil Sunkara took care of the film distribution.
Abhishek Nama is gearing up to fight through industry bodies saying that the dues are not settled yet. Interestingly, the same partners of Goodachari are doing G2 jointly now. The issue has cropped up just before the release of Bhola Shankar.
Nama is in film business for a long time. His family is into film finance as well. But he is the kind of person who avoids controversies and prefers dealing things behind the doors.
But there is one more reason for him to get upset.
Senior Producer KS Ramarao owes a big amount to Abhishek Nama during World Famous Lover (2020). The Senior producer has been delaying the repayment since then.
Finally, he promised to settle it during the release of Bholaa Shankar.
Bholaa Shankar was announced in the partnership of Anil Sunkara and KS Ramarao. Since Bhola Shankar is a big film, Abhishek Nama was okay with it.
But from the last few months, KS Ramarao’s name was removed from the film posters and it is being marketed as Anil’s Solo production.
If one of the two producers of a project is in mess, it is a common practice to remove his name from the posters and take all the dealings behind the scenes so as to avoid the impact on the films.
Anil Sunkara may have done the same and Abhishek Nama may be upset at this point.
When he is himself is tolerating the delay of Goodachari dues, he may have felt Anil Sunkara was being unreasonable in blocking his payments from KS Ramarao as well.
That may have pushed Abhishek Nama to fight through industry bodies and for all reasons, Bhola Shankar release time is the apt time. We will have to see where this issue goes!
