HYDRAA intensified its drive against lake encroachments in Hyderabad on Monday, demolishing the compound wall and entrance gate of a farmhouse belonging to the family of former Telangana minister and BRS MLA Malla Reddy at Doolapally, near Kompally.
According to HYDRAA, the farmhouse boundary wall was constructed by extending into nearly 15 acres of Fox Sagar Lake’s Full Tank Level (FTL) area in Survey No. 124. Officials said soil and silt had been dumped within the lake’s protected limits to construct the wall and gate. The agency demolished the structures as part of its ongoing lake restoration drive.
In a separate operation on the opposite side of Fox Sagar, HYDRAA removed another compound wall covering nearly 20 acres of the lake’s FTL area in Survey Nos. 41 and 42 at Jeedimetla. The property was claimed by Supreme Court advocate Saurabh Raj Verma, who attempted to stop the demolition. However, officials showed him the demarcated FTL boundaries and proceeded with the operation.
Together, the two locations accounted for approximately 35 acres of alleged encroachment within Fox Sagar’s FTL limits. HYDRAA said the action was aimed at reclaiming lake land and preventing further unauthorised construction.
