For decades, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, and Venkatesh built loyal fan bases in Telugu cinema. While younger heroes like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, NTR, and Ram Charan entered the pan India race after the Baahubali wave, none of the senior actors fully stepped into that space. Chiranjeevi tried with Sye Raa, expecting it to break out like Baahubali, but the film could not expand beyond Telugu markets due to not-so-great content, weak promotions, and limited reach.
That scenario seems to be shifting with Akhanda 2. For the first time, a senior Telugu star and his team are seriously positioning a film as a pan India project. The promotions clearly show this intent.
One song was launched in Mumbai, another event happened in Karnataka, and the team met UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his support. A special promotional event in Kashi is also being planned. Adding to that, Balakrishna has personally dubbed the film in Hindi, which shows real commitment toward a national audience.
The content might also work in favor of that plan. The trailer hints at themes rooted in Sanatana Dharma, Lord Shiva’s energy, spiritual symbolism, and intense action, which often connect strongly with North Indian viewers.
There are also flashes of war and military drama, which may help the film appeal beyond regional boundaries. The tone feels larger than life, devotional, and massy, a combination that could travel well if the execution lands right.
In Hindi, Akhanda 2 will clash with Dhurandhar, so the competition is real. The makers would be expecting Rs. 3 to Rs. 5 crores net opening day for Balakrishna’s first serious Hindi attempt. If word of mouth turns positive and the film grows through the weekend, the makers will be satisfied with a Rs. 15 crore net opening weekend and Rs. 30 crore net lifetime business in Hindi markets. And if the film delivers exceptionally well, crossing Rs. 50 crore is not impossible.
Many fans hope this attempt works not just for the film but for what it represents, a doorway for senior Telugu stars to step into the national space with confidence. If Akhanda 2 clicks, it could mark the beginning of a new phase for Balakrishna and possibly inspire others to follow.
