Tollywood has turned release dates into a high-stakes puzzle, with multiple big films competing for the same slots. This often forces sudden reshuffles, disrupting marketing plans and altering box office strategies for projects that had been confirmed months earlier.
Akhanda 2, directed by Boyapati Srinu and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, is one such film caught in this shuffle. Initially scheduled for September 25, the shoot was completed on time, but post-production delays may push the release to early December, likely December 4 or 5.
The timing could work well, as the first Akhanda became a blockbuster after a December release. December has also turned into a strong month for pan-India hits, with Sandeep Vanga’s Animal dominating in 2023 and Sukumar’s Pushpa 2 ruling in 2024. Akhanda 2 may continue that trend.
Another reason for the possible shift is OG, starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Sujeeth, which is locked for September 25. A clash between the two films could divide audiences and weaken openings, making December a more favourable option for Akhanda 2.
Promotions for OG are already underway, keeping it in the spotlight and raising hype among Pawan Kalyan’s fans. If Akhanda 2 moves to December, both films could benefit by maximising collections and avoiding a direct box office clash.
