Nithiin’s upcoming film Alias Rukmini is drawing attention for more than just its title and story. According to the latest buzz, Aafiya Sayed, who featured in Prem Keetanu, the Hindi version of Premalu, is playing the female lead opposite Nithiin. If confirmed, the casting will bring a fresh face into the Telugu film’s lineup.
But the bigger talking point is the speed at which the film is progressing. The entire shooting and post-production work is reportedly being completed within three months, a tight turnaround for a Telugu film featuring a familiar lead actor. At a time when several productions take months or even years to reach theatres, Alias Rukmini appears to be taking a different route.
The film’s financial planning is also generating interest. Buzz suggests that a portion of its non-theatrical business could be enough to recover the entire production budget. If that estimate holds true, the makers could enter the theatrical release with much of their investment already covered. However, the actual figures and terms of the deals have not been officially disclosed.
Presented by Nani and directed by Murali Kanth Devasoth, Alias Rukmini is scheduled to release on December 4. With a short production window and encouraging business talk surrounding it, the film is shaping up to be an interesting project to watch, both on screen and from a trade perspective.
