Akhil Settles for Second-Best!

Initially, speculations were rife that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal would be playing the antagonist in Akhil Akkineni’s forthcoming project, Agent. But as it turns out, things did not go quite as planned by the makers of the Akhil starrer and they are now coming up with an alternative plan of action.

Reports suggest, the makers of Agent have roped in another veteran Malayali actor, Mammootty to lock horns with Akhil in the film. It is said that he has signed the dotted line and will be joining the unit right from the first schedule whenever it commences.

Mohanlal was always considered to be the prime choice for the antagonist role in Agent, thanks to the fame he had attained with Janatha Garrage and also the Malayalam version of Drishyam 2 which was lapped up by Telugu audiences during the lockdown period. But owing to a few undisclosed reasons, the makers of Agent settled with Mammootty, who in a way, is the second-best option for the role.

Mammootty is no stranger to Telugu audiences either as it wasn’t long before he won applauds for his fine performance in Yatra, the biopic of late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy which released in 2019. It appears to be that he will be back in action again in Tollywood with Akhil’s Agent.
