The buzz around Allu Arjun and Aditya Dhar has picked up serious momentum after Dhurandhar’s OTT premiere. Industry talk suggests that the two are exploring a potential pan India collaboration, something that trade analysts had hinted at as early as 2023.
Back then, reports suggested that Aditya Dhar and Allu Arjun were in early discussions with Jio Studios for The Immortal Ashwatthama. The project was envisioned as a modern, superhero style narrative inspired by the Mahabharata. The idea promised massive scale and mythological depth, perfectly suited for a pan India audience. For Aditya Dhar, such a project would have been another bold leap forward after Dhurandhar.
However, according to some other reports that project reportedly hit a roadblock. Aditya Dhar reportedly had narrated a story to Allu Arjun, and the two even travelled together to develop it further. Things changed after the release of Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD. The Karna portions in Kalki’s climax were said to bear similarities to the core idea they had been working on. This reportedly prompted the team to quietly shelve the film to avoid overlaps.
If the Allu Arjun and Aditya Dhar collaboration does happen now, it is expected to be on a completely fresh subject rather than Ashwatthama. That itself makes the prospect even more intriguing. Allu Arjun is already lining up ambitious projects with Atlee AA22, Lokesh Kanagaraj AA23, and is also in talks with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Adding Aditya Dhar to that list would further cement his position as one of the biggest pan India superstars.
A hard-hitting director like Aditya Dhar teaming up with an icon like Allu Arjun is the kind of combination fans dream about. If it materializes, it could well be one of the most explosive collaborations in Indian cinema in recent years. While nothing is official yet, the possibility alone has fans and trade circles excited.
