The strike called by the Telugu Film Workers Federation has entered its seventeenth day. With shootings across the industry coming to a halt, many producers are eagerly waiting for a solution to end the standoff.
Allu Arjun’s upcoming film with director Atlee is facing severe losses because of this disruption. The movie was being shot on a large scale in Mumbai, and the team had already begun an important action sequence without any issues at the start.
The sequence involved more than sixty foreign fighters who were flown to Mumbai. As per union rules, the team also hired an equal number of local fighters, even though they were not required for the scene. They were paid while waiting on set.
The Telugu Fighters Association, after discussions with their Mumbai counterparts, stalled the shoot. This has now led to five days of disruption. The makers are losing nearly 1.25 crore rupees per day, which means about 6.25 crores have already been lost.
Although Mumbai does not usually have active unions, fighters recently formed an all-India association that is now creating issues for this project. The situation has become a major obstacle for #AA22, adding pressure on the makers.
The team is hoping the strike will end soon so that the shoot can resume. #AA22 is one of Allu Arjun’s most ambitious projects under Atlee’s direction. The announcement video hinted at a massive sci-fi story, supported by several animation and VFX studios in Los Angeles to ensure high-quality visuals and special effects.
