Indian cinema is absolutely celebrating the spirit of sequels and franchise films these days. Almost every successful film has a subsequent part coming up, and that has been the case.
However, it has become increasingly tough for star heroes follow up super successful franchise films with their immediate next film films.
Earlier, Prabhas had delivered a flop like Saaho after epic Baahubali 2. This was followed by Yash who followed the epic KGF 2 with Toxic now. It is evident that following up successful films is no joke.
To a small extent, even Siddhu Jonnalagadda, who delivered DJ Tillu 2 followed it with Telusu Kada which failed miserably.
Coming back to the big league now, it is Allu Arjun, who is finding himself in a similar situation with his upcoming film Raaka. This film is currently under production and it happens to be the immediate next film from Allu Arjun after epic Pushpa 2.
Even Allu Arjun is experimenting with Raaka which is directed by Atlee. This Tamil film maker has a good reputation of delivering commercially successful films, but he often faces compliances of mixing and matching old films.
If Atlee can at least deliver a reasonable product, then it is all fun and games for Allu Arjun. But the crucial challenge for him is going to be to follow up Pushpa 2 with a reasonable film and his bet is on Raaka.
At a time when his counterpart like Prabhas and Yash have failed badly in following up successful franchise films, it has to be seen what Allu Arjun would cook up now.
