Media Baron Ramoji Rao was recommended to the prestigious Padma Vibhushan by the Andhra Pradesh. The state government had sent a list of 30 names for the Padma awards which also includes Rajahmundry Lok Sabha member and actor M Murali Mohan and Movie Artistes’ Association president and popular actor G Rajendra Prasad.

The other names in the list include noted surgeons Dr Nageswar Reddy, Dr Soma Raju, Dr Chandrasekar Simhadri, Dr Gopala Krishna Gokhale. Noted classical dancer Ananda Sankar, philosopher Chaganti Koteswara Rao, Veturi Sundara Ramamurthy, Vandemataram Srinivas, Venkatagiri weaver Ramanayya, Kuchipudi exponent Pasumarthi Rattaih Sarma, Vedic scholar Madduri Venkateswarayazulu and chess player Harika.
The Union home ministry will scrutinize and announce the final list in November. The winners will be presented the awards on January 26th, 2016 on Republic Day. They will receive their awards on the hands of the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
