Some heroines get a hit and ride its momentum for years. Anupama Parameswaran has had to keep restarting the ride. From the instant love that came with Premam to the big highs of Karthikeya 2 and 18 Pages, her journey has had enough peaks to establish her. But the misses have been equally real, making her career graph far from predictable.
That unpredictability is also what makes Anupama’s journey interesting. She did not simply stick to the sweet-girl image that Premam created for her. Tillu Square pushed her into a completely different zone, while films like Parada reminded her that even a strong performer cannot guarantee a film’s fate.
Anupama has taken those highs and lows in her stride. Instead of waiting for a safe formula, she has continued moving between different characters and languages, gradually trying to build an identity beyond the image with which she entered the industry.
Now the wheel turns again with Crazy Kalyanam. The October 30 release brings her back as the central face of a Telugu film, playing Keerthi, a young woman whose idea of marriage clashes with her father’s grand plans.
This is where the film becomes interesting in Anupama’s career. She doesn’t need Crazy Kalyanam to introduce her to the Telugu audience. She needs it to become another solid brick in a career that has already been built through both hits and hard lessons.
After the highs, the lows and the experiments, Anupama is back in Telugu cinema with another chance to move the graph upward.
