AP Film Chamber Elections postponed!

The Andhra Pradesh state bifurcation has hit the film industry. With the demands of division in film chamber, the bigwigs of the chamber decided to postpone the elections by two months. The post of Chamber President is rotated every year among producers, distributors, exhibitors and studio owners and this year it is the turn of exhibitors. Chamber bigwigs thought of giving the post to a Telangana man so as to pacify the agitators. But they have declined the offer and demanding a division.

It is said that the Telangana section have approached the state IT minister KTR to intervene and settle the issue. However the government is playing the waiting game since there are big heads involved and touching them can send wrong signals to several sections. The AP film chamber of commerce has 6,000 members including producers, distributors, exhibitors and studio owners. Elections for the posts of president, three vice-presidents, two honorary secretaries, six honorary joint secretaries, one treasurer and chairmen for four different sectors are held every year.
