Sukumar is one of the most popular and also considered one of the most creative directors in Tollywood. His films have always been unique, innovative, and never without logic (basic). Not only that, those who were his erstwhile assistants are also making a mark in a big way in Tollywood.
In 2021, one of Sukumar’s assistant directors, Buchi Babu Sana, delivered a huge blockbuster with Uppena. Though there were some flaws in the film, especially in the second half, it was confirmed that Buchi Babu Sana is here to stay.
Now another member who worked with Sukumar for a brief period, Srikanth Odela, has come up with a winner in the form of Dasara. Setting up a raw and rustic tale isn’t that easy, but Srikanth has neatly established the village setup (Veerlapally), the lively characters, and their lives. He gets the audience involved in the world he creates.
Srikanth passion for telling his story in a gripping manner is evident all through. The way he executed the interval episode and the climax showed his craftmanship as a director. Though there are some rough patches that need some corrections, it is safe to say that Srikanth Odela is a director to watch out for in the future. In fact, he showed more spark in Dasara than even Buchi Babu Sana showed in Uppena in terms of technical finesse.
Now Buchi Babu Sana got the chance to direct Ram Charan in his next. We have to wait and see which star and what kind of projects Srikanth Odela will sign after Dasara, which is on its way to being a hit. But how big a hit it will be, only time will tell.
