Mithra Mandali was scheduled to release on October 16, but the team decided to hold paid premieres on October 15 evening. Ahead of the premiere, the makers held a pre-release press meet where producer Bunny Vas addressed several concerns.
Bunny spoke strongly against negative campaigns targeting the film. He said certain third-party groups were trying to influence producers and manipulate public perception. Promoting one movie by spreading negativity about another, he said, is unethical and short-sighted.
He then raised serious concerns about BookMyShow’s rating system. Viewers see scores like 9.9/10 or 4.5/10 before watching a film, but there’s no clarity on who rates these films or on what basis. According to him, this misleads audiences even before release.
Bunny explained that audiences should decide for themselves based on trailers, promotions, and reviews from genuine viewers, not on vague online numbers. He said such rating systems often lack transparency and risk manipulating audience opinion unfairly.
He also warned that such practices damage both the industry and platforms like BookMyShow. “Your business also depends on our movies,” he reminded, stressing that platforms shouldn’t mislead viewers or harm a film’s reputation with arbitrary or manipulated ratings.
