Chiranjeevi’s Commitment: “Oorike Ayipothara Megastarlu”

One of the most famous banners, AVM Productions, produced over 300 films spanning various languages. The banner has had the privilege of collaborating with several industry legends from different languages. Aruna Guhan, the fourth-generation producer at AVM Productions, recently shared a remarkable anecdote involving the Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Following a brief hiatus after 1976, AVM Productions temporarily ceased film production. Unfortunately, in 1979, the founder of the production house, A.V. Meiyappan, passed away.

However, before his demise, he expressed his desire to resume film production to his sons. Regrettably, this wish remained unfulfilled.

In honor of their father’s one-year anniversary, Meiyappan’s sons resolved to produce and release a film. They approached the renowned Megastar for a project.

During this period, Chiranjeevi was extremely busy, both with his professional commitments and his recent marriage. Upon knowing the sensitive and noble reason behind the request, Chiranjeevi graciously accepted the offer.

Though his existing filming schedules were tightly packed, Chiranjeevi managed to dedicate his evenings to the shooting of the film.

Interestingly, it was also Chiranjeevi who suggested the film’s title, “Punnami Naagu.” The film turned out to be a resounding success, emerging as the highest-grossing Telugu production for AVM Productions at that time.

His willingness to accommodate the project in his already bustling schedule speaks volumes about his commitment to the industry and his respect for the legacy of A.V. Meiyappan and his family.
