NTR fans recently got an update they had been waiting for. The producer officially announced that Devara 2 will start shooting soon in May. On the surface, this clears some confusion. But when we look closely, the situation is still very doubtful and complicated.
For a long time, there have been strong rumors that NTR himself was not very interested in doing Devara 2. Many people believe that if he really wanted the sequel, it would have started much earlier. Instead, the project was stuck for a long time without any meaningful progress. Director Koratala Siva had written an initial version of the script, but reports suggest that NTR did not like that version. Even though NTR and Koratala had several discussions, they could not agree on the script. Because of this, the film was quietly put aside.
Later, Trivikram Srinivas entered the picture. At one point, it was widely publicized that after finishing Dragon, NTR would immediately start a film with Trivikram. That plan has now collapsed as well. This created an empty slot in NTR’s schedule, and he did not want to sit idle.
To avoid wasting time, NTR appears to have decided to fill that open slot with another project. This urgency brought Koratala Siva back into the picture, which is why talk about Devara 2 has started again recently.
Right now, Koratala Siva is rewriting the Devara 2 script from scratch. However, the film will move forward only if a few important conditions are met. The most important one is that the new script must fully satisfy NTR. It has to be clearly better than the earlier version. Today’s audience is very evolved. They do not accept routine stories or simple hero elevation scenes anymore. They expect strong writing, powerful moments, and meaningful drama that feels new.
At the same time, Prashanth Neel’s Dragon must finish on time. If Dragon gets delayed, or if the new Devara 2 script fails to impress NTR, the project can once again be pushed into limbo. Also, if another director comes to NTR with a strong script and locks the same time slot, Devara 2 could completely lose its chance.
As things stand now, Koratala Siva is the easiest option available for NTR. That is the main reason NTR has gone back to him. Whether Koratala can actually hold on to this opportunity depends entirely on how strong and convincing his final script turns out to be.
