Devara 2: Where Does It Fit in NTR’s Plans?

NTR’s highly anticipated movie, Devara, is making an unexpected move by releasing in two parts, as announced by director Koratala Siva. No one saw this coming.

This follows the recent trend of filmmakers creating sequels and multi-part films, which gained traction after the success of Baahubali 2 and the KGF series.

After KGF Part 1, Yash did not sign any other film till KGF 2 was released. The same happened with Pushpa. Prabhas will also shoot for Salaar Part Two and release it within a year of Salaar Part 1.

But NTR will move on to other projects once Devara’s first part is released. He will immediately start WAR 2 with Hrithik Roshan directed by Ayan Mukerji. After that, he is committed to doing a film with Prashanth Neel. So where will Devara 2 fit in the scheme of things?

NTR’s decision to work on other films in between the two parts of Devara is a departure from the usual consecutive sequel trend. The question that remains is whether Devara Part 2 will be able to maintain the momentum generated by the first installment.

It will take at least 2-3 years for Devara 2 to release after Devara 1. It might release in 2025 or 2026. And that too if Devara becomes that big a success that the makers will attempt a Part 2. If the first part doesn’t become a big success, then NTR would think twice to give another year of his career’s prime time to shoot Devara 2.
