Ideally had everything gone to plan, Tollywood could have seen its first Rs 100 crores grossing opener today with Devara which was originally set for release on the 5tb of April.
Had Devara released according to the plan, the discussions in the Telugu circles would’ve been about the box office opening numbers of the NTR starrer.
Considering the summer release advantage and the existing vacuum due to the lack of superstar films, the trend could’ve been a super positive one for Devara had it released on April 5th.
The chances are that, with a good audio and trailer, Devara could’ve well opened in the range of Rs 100 crore gross on the opening day considering the combination hype and the box office situation.
We could’ve had many discussions about the USA and Hindi openings of Devara which would later be compared to Kalki, Pushpa 2, and Game Changer’s numbers. But all of this went in vein after Devara moved to a later date. Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star instead locked the date and it is stuttering at the box office.
Moreover, Devara missed a super lucrative date with the Ugadi holiday at the start of the second week box office run and multiple other holidays lined up in April. This is a golden chance gone down the drain for NTR.
