Following the success of his Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein, Dhanush is set to return with Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 30 and carries strong expectations.
Despite the appreciation for Tere Ishk Mein, Dhanush’s previous Tamil film Idli Kadai did not perform well at the box office. The film failed to break even in Tamil Nadu, raising concerns about his hold in the home market.
After the setback, several trade experts suggested that Dhanush should focus more on Tamil cinema. They warned that consistent success in other industries may not compensate if his regional market weakens.
During Idli Kadai’s release, some fans argued that the film suffered due to competition from Kantara: Chapter 1. Rishab Shetty’s film performed strongly in Tamil Nadu, drawing audiences away and affecting Idli Kadai’s overall performance.
For Kara, the makers initially locked the April 30 release date, which was also planned by Ram Charan’s Peddi. This raised concerns among fans about a possible clash with another big film.
However, there is now strong speculation that the Peddi team may postpone the release. This could give Kara a major advantage by securing a solo release window at the box office.
Since its announcement, Kara has generated significant interest. Director Vignesh Raja returns after the success of Por Thozhil, and early reports about the storyline have increased expectations among fans.
Many believe Kara could mark a strong comeback for Dhanush in Tamil cinema. With reduced competition likely, the film now has a better chance to perform well upon release.
It remains to be seen whether Kara will indeed get a solo release and if it can turn into a major success, helping Dhanush regain his position in the Tamil market.
