The Indian film industry is all set for one of the biggest box office clashes in recent years. Dhurandhar 2, the most anticipated Indian film of the year, and Toxic, one of the biggest projects from South, are both set to release on March 19, 2026.
Dhurandhar 2 is expected to be a box office juggernaut. It was assumed that the makers of Toxic would eventually postpone their film to avoid a direct clash. As things stand, Dhurandhar 2 is clearly leading Toxic across the board. Not just in the Hindi belt, even in the South, including Yash’s home ground Karnataka, Dhurandhar 2 hype is stronger. A postponement seemed on cards for Toxic.
However, just minutes ago, reports emerged that the Toxic team is in no mood to move aside. The March 19 release date has been locked, and the clash is officially on.
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 starring Ranveer Singh is releasing with massive backing from the historic success of the first part. The film already has a fixed audience base of 4-5 crore footfalls if word of mouth is positive. This could translate into massive box office revenues of around Rs. 1500 crore. If the sequel gets even decent talk from the public, it has a strong chance of emerging as the clear winner of the clash.
On the other hand, Toxic has struggled to sustain curiosity. While the teaser became a talking point for a few days, the hype faded quickly. Toxic is expected to benefit mainly from anticipation around Yash’s grand comeback after the massive success of the KGF films. Beyond that, there are not many strong positives working in its favor.
In the North, Toxic has virtually no chance to even collect Rs. 100 crores if it clashes with Dhurandhar 2. Attempts to secure equal showcasing have already failed. Based on current hype, it does not look like a fitting rival anywhere, not even in Yash’s own Karnataka.
Unless Toxic receives phenomenal word of mouth and Dhurandhar 2 faces disastrous public talk, disappointment for Toxic seems inevitable.
