End Of India’s Hyped Big Franchise, Or Not?

One of the iconic film franchises in Indian cinema turned out to be Dhurandhar. First part of this franchise was a sleeper hit as it generated huge revenues while actually releasing with very late attention.

This was substantiated further by the second part, which turned out to be a big blockbuster itself. Subsequently, the Dhurandhar franchise turned out to be one of the biggest and most iconic film franchises in Indian cinema.

But considering the current political wave, where there is a lot of opposition against the NDA government regarding E20 petrol, election commission allegations and others, the prospect of extension of Dhurandhar world is bleak.

Needles to say the first two parts of this film dealt with certain activities of the BJP government. The implications were pretty obvious in nature.

And now, if the third part comes up and it deals with any other extensions of the BJP government, things could get monotonous. This is not in sync with the current mood of the public either.

But at the same time, a film needs to be understood and analysed entirely based on its merit. So if the craft and cinema narration style of the first two parts is repeated for suppose in the potential next part, then a blockbuster theatrical experience is guaranteed.

For now, it is too early to even discuss the idea of the third part of this film, but the premise and the kind of scenarios surrounding the same has started to create a lot of debate nevertheless.
