Toxic Publicity Stunt: Dil Raju Accepts the Challenge?

Recently, producer Dil Raju attended the Markandeya film event as the chief guest. During the event, journalists asked him about the controversy surrounding Toxic theatrical rights in the Telugu states.

Reports said that Dil Raju bought the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana theatrical rights of Toxic for Rs. 120 crores. Many people in the trade felt this number sounded too high and exaggerated. For comparison, KGF Chapter 2, the biggest film in Yash’s career, earned around Rs. 84 crores share in the Telugu states even with massive hype. Toxic does not currently have that level of buzz, which is why the Rs. 120 crore figure is being questioned.

When a journalist asked Dil Raju whether this number was just a publicity stunt, he confidently replied that he would show the bank statement after making the payment.

However, trade analysts say recovering Rs. 120 crores will not be easy. To break even, Toxic would need to do at least Rs. 200 crore gross business in the Telugu states alone. With the current buzz and competition with Dhurandhar 2, that will be a very tough target.
