Tamil star hero Suriya has recently shifted his focus strongly towards Telugu cinema. It is already known that Suriya is acting in a Telugu film directed by Venky Atluri. According to the latest reports, the makers have finalized the title “Viswanatham and Sons” for this film. Actress Mamitha Baiju is playing the female lead opposite Suriya.
The shooting of this film is currently progressing at a fast pace, and the team is getting ready for a release soon. Even before this project hits the screens, reports suggest that Suriya has already given the green signal to another straight Telugu film. This upcoming project is expected to be directed by Parasuram after Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star, which was an epic disaster.
The buzz is that the Suriya Parasuram film will be produced by Dil Raju once again after the Family Star fiasco. For Parasuram, this is a do or die project. After the blockbuster Geetha Govindam, he got the chance to direct Mahesh Babu in Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which received negative reactions. Later, there were expectations that he would redeem himself with Vijay Deverakonda, but The Family Star ended up damaging his credibility even further.
Many industry people consider Parasuram an outdated director who relies on old plot points that no longer connect with today’s audience. While Geetha Govindam worked because of its entertainment value, his later films faced heavy trolling. The Family Star became an extreme embarrassment not just at the box office but also on OTT.
Despite all this, Dil Raju is reportedly giving Parasuram another chance. An official announcement regarding the Suriya-Parasuram project is expected soon. Now, the big question is whether Parasuram can finally bounce back with a hit or whether this film will spell the end of his career as a director.
