The two films, starring magic couple Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starring ‘Dilwale” and Ranveer Singh – Deepika Padukone starring Bajirao Mastani released on the same day i.e.,19th Dec 2015. Both the films released in record number of theatres and running with packed theatres in their first weekend.

The star power of Dilwale is pulling crowds despite its slick story narration and coming to the magnum piece of Snajay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao shows continual improvement in revenues since its release. Domestically, the Dilwale accumulated around Rs. 64.09 crore whereas Bajirao collected around Rs. 46.77 crores in their first weekend. By combining both the films have been collected around Rs. 110.86 crores which is the biggest weekend in Bollywood ever.
Earlier the record held by Aamir Khan’s Dhoom-3 with collections of Rs.107.61 crores. Though the record broken by merging the collections of two films but in absolute terms this can be termed as Biggest Opening weekend in Bollywood. The interesting phenomenon is that it took two films to beat one record.
