Noted actor and Jana Sena leader Prudhvi Raj got relief from the Vijayawada court in a dowry case that had been pending for almost eight years.
In 2016, Prudhvi’s wife, Sri Lakshmi, filed a dowry harassment case against him at Vijayawada’s Suryaraopet Police Station. Upon receiving the complaint, the police registered a case against Prudhvi under IPC section 498A.
In her complaint, Sri Lakshmi alleged that despite receiving money and gold jewellery as dowry during the wedding, Prudhvi used to harass her for additional dowry. She also stated that he neglected her after moving to Hyderabad to pursue his career in films.
Upon investigating the case, the police filed a chargesheet in 2017 at the second additional chief metropolitan magistrate in Vijayawada.
Since then, the case has been ongoing in court with arguments from both sides. Finally, the court delivered its order after all these years.
Upon examining the arguments from both sides, Justice Madhavi Devi delivered her verdict yesterday. As there was no solid evidence against Prudhvi, the case was dismissed, and he was freed.
Prudhvi also attended the hearing at the ACMM court the other day. Finally, he would be relieved with a positive verdict in his favour.
