In Hollywood, there are many superstars. Every big hero who can pull big box office numbers there is referred to as a superstar. But in India, and particularly in south cinema, this superstar title has reservations.
All the while, Rajinikanth was firmly holding the superstar title. The “Super star Rajini” title font itself is enough to make the crowd go bonkers in theaters.
But now, the Tamil folk have divided on this and they have started to quarrel about it. While Rajinikanth’s fans continue to argue he is the only worthy holder of the title, Vijay’s fans argue that their hero is the biggest star in Tamil cinema now and he has the right to be referred to as superstar.
But in reality, Rajini is the only man who is worthy of this title. His impeccable filmography consisting of countless blockbusters have attributed the title to him. His mad craze in many parts of the country was unmatchable when he was in his peak.
Just because Rajini has slowed down with age and on other hand, Vijay is delivering box office hits, the title can’t be moved from the former to latter.
More importantly, all of Rajini’s blockbusters were monstrous blockbusters and more so, he has a unique charisma. Vijay’s films are mostly borderline hits and he is not nearly as big as what Rajini was in the wider markets back in the day. There can only be one superstar and it should be Rajinikanth.
