4 South Releases, 1 Big Question: Winner Already Decided?

South films releasing this weekend

Including Prithviraj’s anticipated I, Nobody, four South Indian films are gearing up for a theatrical release this weekend and it seems to be yet another crowded weekend at the box office.

Among the four films, Prithviraj‘s I, Nobody is going to be everyone’s pick for the weekend, as it already has solid pre-release hype among audiences, particularly in Kerala.

Since it is Prithviraj’s immediate release after the terrible failure of Vilayath Buddha, the success of this film is very crucial for the actor. I, Nobody is releasing this morning and in a few hours, we will get the results of this film.

While the other three films are medium-budget Tamil movies, among them, Atharvaa’s Idhayam Murali has decent pre-release hype, as apart from Atharvaa, many star performers like Fahadh Faasil, Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan have played crucial roles in the film.

Aakash Baskaran, who is a popular producer and has produced two big films, namely Dhanush’s Idli Kadai and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, has transitioned into a director and Idhayam Murali is his debut film. This film is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on July 10th.

On the same date, apart from Idhayam Murali, two low-budget Kollywood films are gearing up for a release such as Dhanush’s nephew Pavish’s Love Oh Love and Mudharkanal.

Pavish was introduced by Dhanush in the film Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Although it had a decent opening because it was directed by Dhanush, it ended up as an average performer at the box office and Pavish was also severely trolled for his acting performance in the film.

Therefore, the success of Love Oh Love is very crucial for him to sustain his position and if Love Oh Love emerges as a surprise blockbuster, it will help him gain solid momentum in his career. Meanwhile, the other film, Mudharkanal, does not have any hype among audiences and many people are not even aware of its release.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen which among these four films is going to emerge as the winner in this race and top this week’s box office collections.
