Vishwak Sen’s Gangs Of Godavari has already sustained multiple postponements. Now again, the film has been postponed from May 17 to May 31st, according to the latest communication from the team.
On one hand, moving out of the May 17 slot is a good move as the AP public is entirely focused on who will be the next CM. This is the focal point of all discussions.
Essentially, all that the public needs is a talking point and source of entertainment. They are getting it in abundance with the discussion about the next CM of AP, so there is no scope for film-related entertainment at this point. In that way, moving out of the May 17 slot is a wise decision.
But the decision to move to May 31 is not fool-proof either. This release slot is four days before the counting so naturally, the majority of the discussions that week will be on the polling trends. So this isn’t an entirely optimal release slot either.
In a way, Gangs of Godavari has avoided 1 hurdle(May 17) and awaits another hurdle (May 31). The team should be hoping that the election fever subsides by May 31 and leaves vacuum for their film, before the D-day arrives on June 4th(counting day).
