Today’s Google Doodle celebrates Indian actress Sridevi’s 60th birthday. She starred in nearly 300 movies in four decades, shining as the Numero Uno actress of Indian cinema. She made many movies, hits & superhits, often without a male co-star.
Born in 1963 in Tamil Nadu, India, she began acting at four and learned various languages to excel in different film industries.
Sridevi gained fame with films like “Moondru Mudichu” and “Himmatwala,” becoming a Bollywood icon. Her hits included “Sadma” and “ChaalBaz.”
Her last Telugu film was SP Parasuram with Chiranjeevi. She was approached for SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali for the role of Sivagami, but unfortunately, it couldn’t materialize.
Sridevi returned with English Vinglish and won many National and International awards. Her last film as a leading actress was MOM. She last appeared in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero in a cameo.
Sridevi paved the way for women to lead in Indian cinema, leaving an indelible mark as one of its greatest actors. She will always be missed!
