Has TFI missed summer blockbuster?

The summer of Telugu films has started officially from the last week of March and we have had a well known product release every week from then on. Son of Satyamurthy was obviously the biggest of them all it deservingly got the biggest openings too. But where is the big blockbuster of the summer? This is the question that entire trade is asking in unison.

Jil within its range was a commercial failure and SOS thanks to its overpricing is heading that way unless it picks up dramatically. In contrast last summer we had a veteran Balakrishna deliver a Legend and Allu Arjun had career best Race Gurram. Just the mention of those names is enough to tell how poor this summer has been so far.

Now if we look ahead nothing in foreseeable future looks like a blockbuster material barring Kick 2 which is a long way to release and this brings us to the one film that could have filled the void. It is nothing but Raghava Lawrence starrer Ganga, sequel to Kanchana in the Muni series. This film was supposed to release last week but due to financial issues it has not been able to hit the cinemas. This film has been declared a blockbuster already in Chennai with both the class and mass audience embracing it.

The previous part in the series Kanchana too was a similar success in Tamil but the Telugu version was even bigger success. Now imagine Ganga repeating the feat again? It could have been the much needed summer blockbuster for distributors’ suffering from loses. Do you think any other release can make up for this?
