The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has authorized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and I&B officers to block or take down any website, app, or link carrying pirated film content. Also, the I&B Ministry going to deploy Nodal Officers across cities in India to stop piracy.
When the news spread on social media, many from the younger generation fail to recognize the gravity of piracy laws.
They argue that nowadays, as soon as a movie begins, people start recording short clips on their mobile phones and taking photos.
In the case of big-star films, highlights, including the hero’s introduction and key scenes, are shared on WhatsApp within minutes. Some netizens even suggest that producers are happy, as they receive free promotion, and their comments on social media question, ‘How many people will they arrest in theaters?’
Preventing the live piracy of these short clips from theaters remains a significant challenge, and for now, producers are not raising complaints.
