Suriya’s Kanguva was finally released and the reactions have been outright negative from all over.
While there are many issues in the film, like clueless direction, haphazard screenplay, flat narration, no emotions, over-the-top performances, and loud BGM, people expected at least Suriya’s performance would stand out.

As Francis it was unfortunate to see Suriya in that cringe role. However, as Kanguva in the flashback, he is better but nothing memorable.
He goes through his scenes in a loud and robotic way. The aura of a king of a clan was clearly missing. He just couldn’t carry that role. He screams, shouts, howls, kills but nothing gets elevated.

Suriya promoted Kanguva in cities across India, including Telugu and Hindi versions extensively. He promised the film would have surprises that would blow everyone’s minds. He seemed very hopeful and believed Kanguva would change Tamil cinema.
Shockingly, Suriya couldn’t see the film’s flaws. Many actors can sense during filming if a project is working or not. When they know a movie hasn’t turned out well, they usually promote it out of formality and quickly move on after it flops.

But in Suriya’s case, his confidence seemed genuine. He seemed to be really excited. It felt like he truly believed Kanguva had turned out to be a great film.
After this, people may find it hard to trust his words in the future. They might not take his statements seriously and could even troll him by sharing clips of his Kanguva promotions.
Kanguva was Suriya’s comeback ticket in Tollywood but it has misfired big time.
It’s hard to believe that Suriya misjudged Kanguva so badly.
