There are a few actors who are smart with their choices, and there are a few who are phenomenal with their acting talents. But in the case of NTR, he is touted to be a brilliant blend of both these. This was acknowledged by Prashanth Neel who is working with NTR as he called him an insanely intelligent actor.
However, very little has been made out of this intelligent and intellectual side of NTR in the recent past, as he was rather complacent with his choices.
In the last decade and half or two decades, NTR did only a handful of impactful films like Aravinda Sametha and RRR. Despite having exceptional knowledge in acting prowess, script choices, and the desire to go beyond, Tarak hadn’t been utilising it to the fullest.
Films with gifted folk like Vetrimaran, Nelson, Neel and others courgettes signified Tarak’s generational talent but he went after random directors and stuck to template commercial tropes.
Finally, Tarak is realising his true potential with Neel’s Dragon as he’s evidently doing something out of the ordinary this time around. He’s unapologetically adamant about it, a glimpse of which was seen with his insane weight loss, and the results could be equally impressive if executed well by Neel.
The best possible outcome now is for Tarak to be a particularly choose about his films and him prioritising quality over quantity. Working only with best in class directors who can reinvent him will do the job for him and that’s a fact.
