Kalki Crossing RRR: Prabhas Not The Reason?

Kalki 2898 AD

Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) is closing in on the lifetime collection of RRR (Hindi), with a current total of about 274 crore net. It needs just 1 crore more to surpass RRR, which earned around 275 crore net.

If Kalki 2898 AD crosses RRR, it will become the third highest-grossing South Indian film in Hindi after Baahubali – The Conclusion and KGF 2.

What’s surprising is that Kalki 2898 AD’s success is largely driven by its performance in the South, especially in Mysore, where it has earned over 20 crore net, making it the top Hindi grosser of the year and among the top ten Hindi films ever in Mysore. This strong performance is largely due to its Hindi-dubbed version.

The key factor behind Kalki 2898 AD’s success in the South is the presence of Amitabh Bachchan. His role has drawn large audiences to the Hindi version, as many fans in the South were excited to see the legend back in action.

His voice, baritone, and powerful dialogues in Hindi created a nostalgic appeal, leading many South Indians to prefer the Hindi version over the Telugu or other South Indian versions.

In contrast, RRR’s Hindi version did not attract as much of an audience in the South. Most South Indian viewers preferred watching RRR in its original Telugu version or other regional dubs, resulting in lower Hindi collections for RRR compared to Kalki 2898 AD.
