Amid this trend, one sequel stands out for the wrong reasons. Despite having a massive cast and crew, it lacks strong ground level buzz. Industry circles are now questioning the low anticipation around this project.
The film in focus is Kalki, which emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema history. The makers clearly confirmed a sequel after the first part’s release in 2024. Expectations were naturally high at that point.
However, even after the sequel announcement, fan demand has remained muted. Social media discussions are limited. Interestingly, fans appear more excited about the sequel to Salaar than about Kalki’s next chapter.
Media curiosity around the sequel is also minimal. Apart from occasional speculation, there is no sustained conversation. On a national level, the film has not generated the kind of excitement usually seen with major franchise sequels.
One reason could be the absence of strong commercial hooks seen in Baahubali or even Salaar. Kalki does not rely heavily on mass elevation moments. This has likely affected its pre release buzz.
That said, expectations may change once Kalki 2 enters active production and promotion. Its Mahabharata connection and content suitable for younger audiences give it long term potential. Such films often gain momentum closer to release.
Kalki 2 may ultimately pull audiences to theatres despite weak early anticipation. It fits the category of films that grow on viewers during promotions rather than dominating conversations well in advance.
